Final Portfolio: Software List

Image
We used multiple platforms and software tools for communication, editing, and high-quality visuals.  Communication: We relied mainly on WhatsApp and Instagram, creating groups to stay updated on every step of the project. Whatsapp was used for immediate and real-time conversations, while Instagram was used to share inspirational reels and ideas that aligned with our vision. Where proper discussion was involved, we used Google Meets. Editing:   Muhjah chose iMovie as our primary software, since it was a simple and effective platform for assembling the footage. Dua used Adobe Photoshop for editing and color grading the images for the digipak. Canva was also used, as it provided a more user-friendly interface for assembling the final layout and adding the text. Lastly, I worked on the script and storyboard using Google Docs and Good Notes , as they were the easiest to navigate and had all the tools I required

Final Portfolio: Problems & Solutions

Problems Solutions The digital camera being used for the behind the scenes (BTS) was running out of battery towards the end of the day.  We filmed the remaining BTS on Dua and my phone. The sun sets early in the winter, thus sunlight was almost gone by 6pm, thus we had very limiting  We prioritized filming scenes that required daylight early in the schedule while saving scenes that could be shot in minimal light for later.  The pet dog kept running into the set and causing distractions We kept the dog occupied with treats and had someone hold them during important shots.

Final Portfolio: Budgeting & Ancillary tasks

Before the filming process, the three of us decided on a total budget of 60,000, which meant spending 20,000 per person.  Price (PKR) Iphone 14 Pro 250,000 Digital Camera (DSM-7) 33,000 macbook M2 300,000 Equipment / Props Ring Light                1,500 RGB Lights 7,000 Lighter 100 Print out of pictures 1,000 balloons 500 Gimbal (rented) 6,500 Coke & Water 650 Video Camera (A7S3 - Sony) (rented) 15,000 Transportation Fuel 15,000 Sub total:  630,250 Most of our money was spent on renting the gimbal and camera. On the first day, I printed out the pictures and bought the balloons while Dua bought drinks for everyone there (coke + water), and her petrol. At Muhjah's house, we used her phone to film and she used her laptop throughout the editing process.

Final Portfolio: Editing the MV

Image
Muhjah took on the task of editing the music video. Since we had content available on multiple phones, we began by airdropping everything onto Muhjah's iPhone, while also sharing on WhatsApp in HD mode. There was an extensive amount of footage to review, shortlist, and trim down to just under four minutes. At the same time, she deleted all unusable clips, refined the confirmed selections, and gradually imported them into iMovie, the editing software she found most comfortable and easy to use. Muhjah played around with some shots, having them match the quick beats in certain parts of the song, while using an animation effect to some, to enhance the visuals and make the scenes more impactful.

Final Portfolio: Social Media Page (Content Creation)

Image
My team and I collectively decided on a minimum of 10 posts on our Instagram account. Muhjah was mainly responsible for managing the social media page and uploading everything, while Dua mainly took on the task of the grid posts. I created the background for the grid posts while Dua played around with the fonts. After careful analysis, we realised that using a thicker and darker shade for the font would have a greater visual impact. We made sure to incorporate our Bluelight Productions logo into the grid design to reinforce our branding.

Final Portfolio: Production Schedule

Image
Day 1: The FarmHouse Our first day of filming was set at a beautiful farmhouse, the exterior of which provided the perfect rustic and outdoorsy backdrop we were looking for. We all arrived together at around 3:30 to get accustomed to the location and set up before everyone else showed up. We had asked the cast to reach around 4 so that we could film during broad daylight. During the crucial 30 minutes before their arrival, we all scouted and decided upon which shot to film where, along with the initial framing.  Most of the cast reached around 4:30, which meant we were set to shoot! Without wasting any time, we got right into it, with Muhjah directing everyone on how exactly to act and Dua and me participating in some of the initial scenes. It was an exciting experience, as we got to interact with different people and of course, finally got to see our vision for the music video come to life. Preceding the shoot, it began to drizzle, but luckily for us, the sky cleared up jus...

Preliminary task #2: Final and Learning outcome

Image
Here is our F inal Video :  Learning Outcome This Music Video using the song Maand by Bayaan, Rovalio, and Hassan Raheem delves into the themes of memory, nostalgia, and changes due to the passage of time. Through the protagonist's reflection on her past with her friends, the video encourages viewers to reflect on the impact of past connections on their present lives.  Through this video, we learn how the protagonist's memory of her old friends is triggered by everyday tasks, highlighting the enduring power of past moments and their ability to permeate our current reality. It also highlights the bittersweet feeling of lost connections. While she reminisces the enjoyable moment of just hanging out with her friends, she can't help but want to experience it again. The photo of her friends that was sent to her serves as a catalyst, triggering a flood of memories and lost connections due to the passage of time. This encourages viewers to cherish the relationships they have...

Final Portfolio: Location Recce

Dua worked on the location recce for the final shoot locations.

Preliminary task #2: Editing

Image
I handled the editing for this video, going back and forth with continuous suggestions from teammates. I used Capcut because I find it to be the easiest editing platform. The only time-consuming part was aligning the subtitles with the words in the song, otherwise, I experienced no major issues.

Preliminary task #2: Shoot & Behind the Scenes

Image
We decided to film after school, and since Muhjah's house was the closest, we shot almost all the scenes there. Muhjah was the lead actor, while Dua and I were supporting actors. The video, which is a little over one minute long, took us about an hour to finish. Since I took on the editing task, we decided to film on my phone, as I would have all the clips readily available. While almost all the scenes were filmed at Muhjah's house, we were missing a clip that required sitting in the car, which Dua filmed the following day.  Here are some BTS pictures:
